THE PROJECT
With their latest production the two performance and installation artists Angie Hiesl and Roland Kaiser are treading intercultural paths between Germany and China. china-hair-connection Beijing-Cologne illuminates facets of everyday culture in China and Europe with a special focus on HAIR. By means of artistic interventions the project identifies interfaces between public and private spheres.
Selected locations in typical quarters of Beijing and Cologne will become the centre of the action and will be artistically charged with performance, dance, theatre, installations and sound.
In Cologne, public areas in the city will themselves become the venue for the action; in Beijing, however, the performance is planned in a semi-public area, which belongs to a private construction firm, It is too early to say whether this will be the final venue for the performance because local production conditions are subject to constant change. This, in turn, has a direct influence on the artistic work and the creative processes.
